Dictionary Definition
Sock1 - noun, plural socks
1. a short stocking usually reaching to the calf or just above the ankle.

Sock2 - verb (used with object)
1. to strike or hit hard.

-Dictionary.com

My Definition
I do not use the second one, but I use the first one for all fuzzy foot-coverings that are not slippers =]

Why I like it
Because it can mean something soft and fuzzy and cool, or it can mean I PUNCH YOU

More
Why do words have two meanings? It is confusing. I am trying to learn Portuguese and it is even MORE confusing because I can’t use words that are the same in english because they are different in Portuguese and I can’t even say most of the Portuguese words anyway They have weird line-thingies on them! I am learning well with Livemocha (I can even describe my hair now!!) but I still have trouble saying things… Words are mean. ALSO, I can’t even type most of the words because Portuguese people use weird characters that are not ON a english keyboard. I have to keep using alt-key tables. GRRRRRRR.

Sparkle
v. spar·kled, spar·kling, spar·kles
[verbs skipped]

n.

A small spark or gleaming particle.
A glittering quality.
Brilliant animation; vivacity.
Emission of gas bubbles; effervescence.
My definition:
Sparkles are like…glitter, and happiness, and I also use the word ’sparkly’. When I feel sparkly, I feel happy.

Why I like it:
Sparkles are happy-making, and I associate bright shining glittery colours with happiness. Happy things are good.

More:
I will add a Flickr picture over there…there we go, isn’t it sparkly?! How awesome.

Dictionary Definition:
this word is not in the dictionary, however it suggests that I meant “cool” or ”lool” in the dictionary, or “2 cool” or “cool” in the encyclopedia. (In case you wondered (I did), ”lool” means “A vessel used to receive the washings of ores of metals.” – Dictionary.com)

My Definition:
“cool” with an extra L in it because it sounds better. As in, “It’s soooo clool!!”

Why I like it:
cool is overused.

More:
I love this word! I think other people must love it too cos lots of them seem to copy it… I have noticed a trend actually, if you use a word alot around other people, they start to use it too. Sometimes just to humour you but also sometimes they take it for themselves and use it. This has happened when I used to greet everyone in a chatroom with ‘pillow’ – after a few days, they started greeting me the same way before I’d even said it! I wonder if that’s how new words or meanings or words are always created?

Definition I use:
A word to use when I have nothing else to say. eg. To start a conversation on msn (which annoys some of my friends ;p)

Why do I like it:
Cos I like how it -sounds- ^_^ And it’s one of those random words that everyone looks at you strangely for liking, but it’s -not- a typical “random” word like ‘cheese’ is…

More:
Why do people ever use anything else? “Glue” is an excellent greeting. “Hey” “Hi there”.. they’re all over-used… If people understand what you mean (and my friends do – they know I’m a strange person xD) then it doesn’t really matter what word you use. So why not be unique? Besides, small talk gets boring fast unless someone adds some “weird” aspect to it. AND, if I say something like “glue” everyone’s so busy focusing on how odd I am they miss how awesome I am and therefore don’t bother me with conversation. Wow that makes me sound mean. I’m not mean just shy lol

Glue is also a clool [I will make a blog entry about this word later] word because it can be said in lots of different ways, with different tones of voice, and mean practically anything. Actually that’s probably true of most words, but I like “glue”. I think I read somewhere that the majority of our communication is through body language, facial expression, and tone of voice… I’ve never understood that, words do a pretty good job too (like now, can’t you tell what I’m talking about? ). I miss most facial expressions because I’m too shy to spend alot of time looking at people’s faces, though I do seem to use alot of smilies, so maybe they have something there…but I mainly use them to replace tone of voice. Hmm. I think most of my communication is through tone of voice and words, to be honest. Body language is fairly irrelevant to me… Except hugs, they express lots.

So what do people think, do you communicate with body language/facial expression? Words? Or tone of voice? Comment me and tell me! Also comment me and tell me what you think of glue ;D
